Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady's Catholic Church in Medley's Neck, MD, with Fr. John Berry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: Public visitation will be held in the funeral home on Monday, August 16, 2004 from 5 - 8 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. John "Jack" Joseph Campion, 76, of Leonardtown, MD formerly of Clifton, NJ, died Friday, August 13, 2004 in Charlotte Hall, MD. He was the son of the late Mary O'Connor and John J. Campion. He was the loving husband of Margaret Campion whom he married on May 12, 1951 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Harrison, NJ. He was the devoted father of Patrick Campion of Rockville, MD, Aileen Campion of St. Louis, MO and Margaret Sawyer of Tall Timbers, MD. He is survived by his sister Rose Campion of Whiting, NJ and his brother Raymond Campion of Montgomery, TX and by his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Campion graduated from St. Peter's High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. In 1946 he served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948. He moved to St. Mary's County in September 1968 from Clifton, New Jersey. He retired on July 1, 1993 from Civil Service where he was employed as an Air Condition Refrigeration Mechanic for 20 years. Mr. Campion was a member of the Knights of Columbus and he enjoyed boating and gardening. The family received friends on Monday, August 16 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, August 17 in Our Lady's Catholic Church with Father John Barry officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
