Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Compton, MD with Fr. John Mattingly officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation: Public visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 from 4 - 8 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Contributions may be made to the Hollywood VolunJohn Louis Fischer, 66, of Hollywood, MD and formerly of Utica, NY died January 15, 2005 in Hollywood, MD. Born June 17, 1938 in Utica, NY he was the son of the late John and Mary Haberl Fischer. He was the loving husband of Martha Ann Fischer whom he married in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Compton, MD. He was the devoted father of Joy Myers of Waldorf, MD, Joan Collette of Anna, TX, John M. Fischer and Michael Fischer both of Mechanicsville, MD. He is also survived by his sister Rosemary Gerstl of Middletown, NY and 9 Grandchildren. Mr. Fischer moved to St. Mary's County from Waldorf in 1991. He was the owner of B & J Mechanical and a member of Steamfitters Local Union 602, Washington, DC for 46 Years. He also served in the United States Navy for six years from August 22, 1956 to August 21, 1962, where he was stationed at Keflavik, Iceland and Patuxent River in Lexington Park, MD and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Fischer was also a member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Mechanicsville Chapter. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 4 â?? 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Compton, MD with Fr. John Mattingly officiating and Deacon Bill Nickerson co-officiating. Interment will be private. Pallbearers for Mr. Fischer will be John M. Fischer, Michael J. Fischer, John Michael Fischer, Garry M. Fischer, Michael D. Myers and Jay N. Collette. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Norris, James Fleshman, James Anderson, Bob Anderson and Mike McGuigan.
