Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD with Father Raymond Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. John Louis Abell, III, (Jackie) born October 10, 1940 of Hollywood, MD, died October 10, 2013 in Washington, DC, with his family by his side. On August 17, 1963 John Married his beloved wife, Gloria Jean Johnson Abell. Together they celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage. In Jackie’s younger days of his life he liked to play baseball, coach little league, fishing, hunting, and playing golf. Late in life, Jackie enjoyed; traveling, camping, car shows, rock & roll music, concerts, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Jackie also enjoyed doing a huge Christmas display every year. Jackie served in the Army stationed in Germany. He was a truck driver working for Purolator, Embassy Dairy, Ink Company and WRA. In addition to his loving wife, Gloria, Jackie is survived by his children; John L. Abell, IV of Hollywood, MD, and Stephen M. Abell, Sr. (Debbie) of Leonardtown, MD; his grandchildren; Stephen M. Abell, Jr. (Lindsay of Hollywood, MD, Nathalie K Walter and Kaitlyn R. Abell of Leonardtown, MD. He also is survived by his sisters Peggy Lacey of Hollywood, MD., and Linda Kirby (Bill) of Hollywood, MD. He is preceded in death by his parents John L. Abell, Jr., and Henrietta (Jimmie) Abell formerly of Hollywood, MD; his siblings; Betty Lou Wathen (Richard) and Floyd Abell (Stephanie) of Hollywood, MD. Brother in law Francis Lacey. The family will receive friends for John Louis Abell, III on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD.
