Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Lexington Park Baptist Church Lexington Park, MD with Pastor Mark Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. John T. Dent, 62, of Great Mills, MD, died peacefully, on April 20, 2013, in his home. Born on March 16, 1951, in Montgomery, MD, he was the son of the late Elmer F. Dent, Sr., and Joan Marie Wilson Dent. John married the love of his life Kathie L. Henry Dent on May 11, 1974. John is also survived by his children; Kay Marie Dent Bennett, Betsy Ann Dent, and Crystal Lynn Dent Grimes, 8 grandchildren; Tiffany Nicole, Megan Elizabeth, Emily Renee, Lillian Renee, Mackenzie Grace, Steven Tyler, Arthur Robert, and Erik Andrew, and 1 great grandson Nathan Preston. John is also survived by his siblings; Elmer F. Dent, Jr. of Providence, RI, Catherine B. Dent Behanna of Myrtle Beach, SC, Teresa D. Dent Gibson of Conway, SC, and Cora Irene Dent Hart of Pueblo, CO. In addition, Mr. Dent had numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Francine M. Deinlein, 2 nephews, and 1 niece. Mr. Dent received his education in the Charles County School system. His life’s work was carpentry, construction, and he was a perfectionist to always doing the job well. Mr. Dent passion was the great outdoors, and he was an avid fisherman. He could always be found on the water fishing, crabbing, and oystering, he would be in his element. Mr. Dent adored, and loved his family always putting them first in his life. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on April 24, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Lexington Park Baptist Church Lexington Park, MD with Pastor Mark Garrett officiating.
