Jordan Michael Davis, age 41, of California, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of God. Born on March 30, 1984, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C. to Pamela Wheeler Mattingly and Michael V. Davis and raised in St. Mary’s County, Jordan lived a life defined by service, career, loyalty, and a deep love for family and friends. Growing up, Jordan was a curious, resilient child who loved deeply and had an old soul. His love for reading led to him being a lifelong learner and allowed him to master almost anything he put his mind to. His intelligence was only matched by his natural athleticism where he excelled in tennis and swimming. His striking good looks and good-natured personality even led to him doing some modeling work as a young adult. A gifted student, Jordan graduated from Leonardtown High School where he excelled in the subject of physics. This keen aptitude ultimately led to his career in the United States Navy’s Nuclear Submarine Program. Honorably serving his country for ten years, including 4.5 years in sea service, Jordan chose Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as his first duty station. He served aboard the nuclear submarine USS La Jolla as a Machinist Mate First Class Nuclear Engineer (MMN1 SS). While serving onboard the nuclear submarine, Jordan acted as the Nuclear Propulsion Plant Supervisor. After his time in Hawaii, Jordan was selected as an instructor at the United States Navy “A” School located at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston, South Carolina where he helped to train the next generation of the Navy’s nuclear program. During his time in the Navy, Jordan demonstrated great dedication in everything he did. His outstanding work ethic and expert abilities earned him the respect and recognition of his superiors. He was awarded multiple ribbons and commendations including a Flag Letter of Commendation, Enlisted Submarine Breast Insignia, Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal, Navy Sharpshooter Rifleman Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbons (2), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (3), Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4). After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Jordan began his second career working for the international undersea engineering and technology company Oceaneering where the skills he acquired during his time in the Navy were invaluable. While working at Oceaneering, Jordan also began his next adventure as a personal trainer, achieving his Level 2 CrossFit Trainer Certification, in the greater Charleston, South Carolina area. A perfect fit with his lifelong passion for health and fitness, he thrived in his new career and also found time to dedicate himself to his local community. His deep love for dogs of all kinds led him to volunteer at an animal charity called “Dogs Off Chains” to build fences for dogs in need. Jordan also volunteered at the Charleston Warm Shelter to serve meals to those less fortunate than himself. Away from work and his time volunteering, Jordan loved nothing more than to spend time with his two beloved French Bulldogs, Charly (Pretty Girl) and Jaxx (My Boy). His love for them was only equaled by their love for Jordan. Jordan had many hobbies and enjoyed vacations near the ocean, action movies, CrossFit workouts, playing tennis, golfing, and especially riding his Ducati motorcycle. All of his life, Jordan had a magnetic, charismatic personality that would attract both people and animals to him. He formed many dear and lasting friendships throughout his life, and he had many best friends including his close friends John Pennisi and Markel Deese. Together, they shared work outs, adventures and many laughs and good times that they will cherish in his absence. Along with his many close friendships, Jordan had a special bond with his sister Ashley, who was always there for him. She lovingly called him “J”. Jordan’s dedication to his family was unwavering, including spending time with his nephew Tyler Davis. Just a few weeks before his passing, he taught Tyler how to drive his stick-shift car. Jordan was incredibly proud of his nephew, who meant the world to him, and he enjoyed hearing stories about Tyler’s commercial diving and offshore experiences. Jordan also shared a special relationship with his Uncle John and Aunt Shelley. He especially loved spending time outdoors and working to rebuild “the red barn” alongside his Uncle John. Jordan is proceeded in death by his beloved grandmothers Cecilia Wheeler and Margaret Davis, his grandfather, Vernon Davis, his great-aunt Janice Willett, his aunt Jennifer Wheeler, and his cousin Carly Foglio Guidotti. He is survived by his mother Pamela Wheeler Mattingly and stepfather Robert G. Mattingly, father Michael V. Davis, sister Ashley Lauren Davis, nephews Tyler Davis and Jakob Fairfax. He is also survived by his Grandaddy Woodrow “Woody” Wheeler and by his aunts Shelley Wheeler Horne (John), Marsha Wheeler Brantley (Clyde), Bonnie Wheeler Hood (Paul), and Marsha Foglio (Charles). He also leaves to mourn his loss many loving cousins Kim, Kirk, Chelsea, Kinley, Cameron, Caden, Julia, Tamara, Taylor, Adron, Kale, Audrey, Stone, and Katcher. Also surviving are his devoted ex-wife Erin McIntyre and his beloved dogs, Charly and Jaxx. The family would like to say a special thank you to Jordan’s cousin Cameron Horne for officiating Jordan’s prayers, life celebration, and burial with heartfelt grace and love. Thank you, Cameron, we love you so much. Jordan will be deeply missed, but his humor, generosity, and kindness that he shared so freely will live on in the amazing memories and friendships he cherished. I was deeply saddened to hear about Jordan’s passing. Even though time and distance may have separated us since our days together at LES/LMS/LHS, I’ve always remembered him fondly. I’m holding his family and all who were close to him in my thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. May his memory be a blessing.
