Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lexington Park, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. Joseph “Eugene” Watts, 67, of Martinsburg, WV, formerly from Lexington Park, MD passed away on December 20, 2012 in Martinsburg, WV. Born in Lexington Park, MD on January 28, 1945, he was the son of the late Richard Barnes, and the late Mary Frances Watts Warren Joseph’s mother was married to N.J. Warren whom Eugene was very close to and considered a father figure to him. Eugene is survived by his children; Kevin E. and Daryl A. Watts both of Lexington Park, MD, and Joseph M. Watts of Cumberland, MD, siblings; George Watts (Doris) of Raleigh, NC., Alonzo Warren and Sheila Gamble (Kevin) both of Upper Marlboro, MD., Donna Grayson of Waldorf, MD, Sandra Bailey of Olney, MD, Donna Grayson of Waldorf, MD, and Denise Gray (Donald) of Forestville, MD, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and special cousin Yvonne Watts. In addition to his parents Eugene was preceded in death by his brother in laws; William Curtis, Wilbert Bailey, and Charles Grayson. Mr. Watts attended St. Mary’s County Public High School. Eugene worked as a firefighter for the Patuxent River Naval Base Fire Department retiring on March 20, 1998. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery Lexington Park, MD. Pallbearers will be; Marco Curtis, WilliamTaylor, Jr., R.L. Gilespie, and Raymond Wisenburg.

I was Eugene’s supervisor for quite a few years and we spent a lot of time together on Duty Truck etc. We shared a lot of stories back and forth and I got to be very close to him. Eugene was a good man and wished we had kept in touch. Now he doesn’t have anything to worry about and he is with the good Lord.”
