Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 9, 2004 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD with Fr. Rory Conly officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Visitation: A public visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, August 8, 2004 from 2 - 5 PM with prayers being said at 3:00 PM. Joyce Ann O'Connor, 73, of Leonardtown, MD died on August 4, 2004 in Washington Hospital Center. Born August 25, 1930 in Harrisburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Irene Smith and Edward Squillante. She was preceded in death by her husband John Francis O'Connor whom she married on January 30, 1954 in Baltimore, MD. She is survived by her children Karen O'Connor of Alexandria, VA, Tim O'Connor of California, MD, Jim O'Connor of Virginia Beach, VA and Jennifer O'Connor of Lexington Park, MD and by her brother Louis Squillante of Fort Myers, FL and sister Carol Squilante of Seattle, WA and one grandchild. Ms. O'Connor graduated from Mother Seaton High School in 1948 then went on to attend college at John Hopkins School of Nursing there she graduated in 1953 with degrees in B.S. and R.N. She moved to St. Mary's County in 1954 and worked as a nurse in St. Mary's Hospital for 37 years until her retirement in 1991. She volunteered in several organizations such as Helping Hands, Birthright, St. Paul's, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and St. Aloysius Choir. The family received friends on Sunday, August 8, 2004 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, August 9, 2004 in St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Rev. Rory Conley officiating. Interment was held in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Kevin O'Connor, Jim O'Connor, Frank Graves, Curt Jordan, Chris Jordan and Louis Squillante.
