Julius Warren Tolson, 84, of Piney Point, MD, formerly from silver Spring, MD passed away on April 16, 2015 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on March 16, 1931 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Rose Gately Tolson, and Julius Watkins Tolson. Julius was the loving husband of Georgiana Kirtley Tolson, whom he married on October 4, 1958 in Hyattsville, MD. Julius is survived by his children: Warren Tolson (Rena) of Laurel, MD Elizabeth Bruffey (Brian) of Mt. Airy, MD, and 5 Grandchildren. He graduated from Anacostia High School in 1949, and graduated from University of Maryland in 1957 with a Bachelor Degree. Julius worked as a salesman, selling office equipment. He moved from Silver Spring, MD to St. Mary’s County, MD in 1992. Julius was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sigma Nu Fraternity at University of MD, and a member of the University of MD “M” Club. The family will receive friends on April 22, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM in St. George’s Catholic Church Valley Lee, MD with Father Michal Sajnog officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Brian Bruffey, Jr., Patrick Bruffey, Matthew Bruffey, Joseph Tolson, Scott Wentz and Sheldon Russell. Contributions may be made to St. George’s Catholic Church P.O.Box 9 Valley Lee, MD 20692.

    I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Tolson’s passing, tho I know he has been suffering for a while. I pray you may all find comfort in memories and knowing that he is in heaven where you will meet him again one day. He had a good life, and I am grateful to have known him. I know his passing will cause grief. That is part of life. Just know that I love you all, very much.

  8. I am very sad to hear that Mr. Tolson passed away. I have very fond memories of his many stories, his quick wit, and endearing ways. He was certainly one of a kind and unique in many respects. I am sorry for your loss and pray that God will bring family and friends peace and comfort during this trying time.
