Katherine “Kay” Anna Gerry, a woman of immense strength, fierce love, and boundless generosity, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on January 11, 1946, in Okita, Kansas, Kay was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Emma Jean Prochaska. Though Kansas born, she spent the majority of her life creating a warm, welcoming sanctuary in her family home on Stevens Road in White Marsh, Maryland.
Kay was a force of nature—tough as nails, yet loving fiercely. If she didn’t like something, she would surely let you know, but her heart was entirely golden. Strong, giving, and deeply caring, Kay would quite literally give her last penny to help someone in need. Her door was always open, frequently taking in those who didn’t have a place to live.
An incredibly hard worker, Kay poured her determination into everything she did, from her early years in property management to her long, successful career at Bally Total Fitness.
Kay found immense joy in the simpler pleasures of life. She loved her trips to Ocean City, working on her latest crafting projects, and spending hours contentedly “moseying around” Walmart. More than anything, she loved to cook and host large family and friend gatherings. Every event she hosted featured the most beautiful decorations where not a single detail was missed. Her kitchen was a source of legendary comfort, and everyone eagerly anticipated her famous dirt cake, pumpkin rolls, “best in the west” beans, and Jewish apple cakes.
In recent times, Kay faced some very challenging health issues. True to her character, she did not let them bring her down. She fought hard every single day to progress in her therapy plan, all while fostering deeply meaningful, amazing new relationships with her dedicated care team.
Family was Kay’s absolute pride and joy. She loved them beyond measure and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 57 years, Wayne Gerry Sr., who preceded her in death in 2019.
Her beautiful legacy of love survives through her devoted children: her son, Wayne Gerry Jr. (Michelle), and her daughter, Jackie Siejack (Kevin). Kay’s maternal heart extended beautifully to the three nieces and nephew she raised and loved entirely as her own: Elizabeth Burkard (Glen), Rebecca Ball (Eric), and George Prochaska.
She was the proud grandmother to four grandsons: Raymond Gerry (Lara), Steven Gerry (Allison), Jeffrey Scott (Georganna), and Travis Rawl Jr. (Bailey). Kay was also blessed with ten beautiful great-grandchildren who brought her endless happiness: Harper, Luke, Savannah, Jason, Maddox, Carmella, Cooper, Temperance, Dominic, and Penelope.
In true Kay fashion, even in her passing, she continues to think of others before herself. In a final act of profound generosity, she has donated her body to the Anatomy Gift Registry, where she will contribute to vital medical research and training.
A celebration of Kay’s remarkable life will be held in late September, where family and friends will gather to share stories, remember her fierce love, and honor a woman who gave so much to the world.

Mrs. Kay was a beautiful soul. She always had a smile on her face. I don’t remember a time that she ever got upset at anyone. She’s gonna be missed dearly. Many prayers to the family through this difficult time.
I am so sorry for your family’s loss. Your Mom and your Dad were such sweet souls and it was obvious how much they loved their family. I remember meeting them for the first time at the beach. You all went to breakfast and brought us back donuts to our condo. My kids were elated. What a nice gesture. Your mom had such a kind heart…and she taught her family to love and be kind as well. My deepest condolences.
Mom, you took us in when no one else was willing to step up. You said that the 3 of us would never be separated, as we had been through too much already! I truly love you and Pop. I love that we had a way to have everyone intrigued they you and Pop were both my Aunt and Uncle, and my Mom and Dad!
