It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathrine Elizabeth Caywood Bean, “Kathy”, who left us on February 12, 2025. Kathy was born on August 14,1939, in Leonardtown, MD, and lived a life full of love, dedication, and kindness. Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alexander Caywood and Grace Ellen (Raley) Caywood, her sibling, Rosalie “Rae” Lee, (Ike-deceased), her sisters-in-law, Neadura “Sissy” Hall and Rosalie Bean, and brother-in-law, Gregory Bean. Kathy is survived by her husband, George Leo Bean, Sr. of 47 years, her sibling, Mary “Peggy” Lee (Bobby-deceased), her two nieces, Gail Spalding and Lyndall Lee, her stepchildren, Cathy Gossett (Kim), Patty Hancock, Glenda Fritz (Joe) Leo Bean, and Tim Bean, as well as many close family members and friends. From an early age, Kathy worked on her parents’ tobacco farm until graduating from Margaret Brent High School in 1957. Upon graduation, she started a career working for Sprigg Reeves Insurance Agency, where she worked for 30 years. She was a member of the 2nd District Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for several years and an active member of Saint Georges Episcopal Church in Valley Lee, MD. Kathy married George Bean on December 31,1978, and they made their home in Valley Lee, where they hosted many New Year’s Day dinners for family and friends. Kathy was adventurous and enjoyed being on the Bay fishing and was very good at it. They traveled on their boat, the “Cathy Lynn”, several times to the Florida Keys, where they fished and made lifelong friends and memories. Rest in peace Kathy, your kindness will live on in the hearts of those who loved you. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM in St. George’s Episcopal Church, Valley Lee, MD, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Leo Bean, Robert Bean, Jason Bean, Kenny Sebring, Joe Fritz, and Kim Gossett.
