A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 10AM in St. John's Catholic Church with Msrg. Martin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation:
Viewing and Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1, 2006 from 5PM till 7PM with prayers being said at 6PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel.
Leonard Stanley "Lenny" Rebarchick, 90, of Great Mills, MD died October 30, 2006 in the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Born September 27, 1916 in Hazleton, PA he was the son of the late Frank and Veronica Vidinsky Rebarchick. He was the loving husband of the late Adele Rebarchick who preceded him in death in 1985. He is survived by his children Ronald Lynn Rebarchick of Lusby, MD, Dale F. Rebarchick of Leonardtown, MD, Theresa Raugstead of Richmond, VA, Daniel Rebarchick of Hollywood, MD, Stephen Rebarchick of Cleveland, OH and Judith Wautz of Keymar, MD. He is also survived by his siblings Carl Rebarchick and Jean Petruzzi of Hazleton, PA and seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings Amil Rebarchick and Alfred Rebarchick. Leonard was from Hazelton, PA and moved to Alexandria, VA in the early 1940's where he was employed as a supervisor by the American Stores Co. in Arlington, VA from 1940-1943. He joined the Army in 1943 and was separated from service in January of 1946 after serving in WWII, where he was stationed in Central Europe, Africa, Iran, and Philippines. After the war, in 1952, he moved to St. Mary's County where he built the Knotty Pine Restaurant and in 1963 the name was changed to Lenny's. He retired in 1981 after 29 years of being the owner and working at the restaurant. Until he was 85 years old, he donated numerous hours of his time to St. John's Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD and taking care of others. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Crime Solvers and he was an active volunteer at St. John's Catholic Church of Hollywood, MD for twenty years. The family will receive friends in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 from 5:00-7:00 PM with Prayers being said at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 10:00AM in St. John's Catholic Church with Msgr. Martin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Lexington Park, MD. Pallbearers will be Anthony Petruzzi, Burnt Raugstead, William Chesser, Richard Chesser, Paul Abell and Princeton Simeona. The Honorary Pallbearer will be George Ferguson. “Ted Mosby (my step-dad) used to take my sister and me to Knotty Pine for the best BBQ in town! I remember Lenny from those days (1957, 58, 59, 60). I remember his son, Ronnie, the nicest young man I ever knew (I remember him to this day). I was online looking up Lexington Park and nostalgic memories when I found this site. My condolences to Lenny’s family. Lenny is with Lord Jesus Christ, Son and Word of God. May Christ bless his family. When we knew Lenny, my name was Sherida Mosby. That was 50 years – no one will remember us as customers at the Knotty Pine or my having known Ronnie. I live in North Hollywood, California – many miles from my childhood & young teen days in Lexington Park. When I saw Lenny’s picture on this site, I knew his face instantly, and the memories of yesteryear came flooding in. I was sad to see and read about his death. Again, my condolences to his family.”
