Although a Weirton girl myself, I did not befriend Linda until our Fairmont State sorority days. Linda was my matron of honor some 52 years ago. I always admired her beauty & brilliance. I will see to it that a mass at St. Joseph here in Weirton will be said for her. My sympathy to each of you who loved her. After her long journey, I am sure she is resting in peace.

I had the privilege of working with Linda for many years. One of my two fondest memories of Linda was surprising her as principal of the year! She was so humbled by all the love and congratulations she received. My second memory is when I found her in the hallway of a principal meeting. She was crying on the phone. I stayed back but wanted to check on her after the call. She ended the call and had a huge smile on her face. She said, “my first grandchild is a boy!” We hugged, laughed and cleaned up her happy tears! She was so excited and happy. I was very honored to share that joy with her.

To Linda’s family – though I didn’t personally know Linda, her name came up in lots of conversations that I had with my sister, Pat Suit. They worked together for many years and I know my sister appreciated her company and valued their friendship immensely. Sympathy to you all – Tism Thompson Blackwell
“I was blessed to be Linda’s friend in the most formative years of our lives. We experienced and learned much together as cheerleaders in high school, sorority sisters in college, and summer camp counselors at Chagrin Falls. I was honored to be Linda’s maid of honor at her wedding, and though we seldom saw each other after college, when we did, it was like we were never apart. Linda guided me, supported me, loved me, and I will forever be grateful for her friendship.”
I am so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I really enjoyed our many times together. I can still hear her laugh! I wish you both, comfort and peace during this difficult time.

You always had a nice smile and a friendly word for me in the hallways, in class, in the cafeteria and at basketball games. You were a blessing to all of our Madonna classmates.

Memories come back — dancing to the Beach Boys in the basement, sipping beers and pina colados around the pool, laughing about Chad’s milk drunk expression after a feeding. Always remember the welcoming smile and easy laugh. Condolences to Shane, Chad and their families and to the Bertwells. Drew and Marybeth Dowdell
