A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
Visitation:
Viewing/Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM.
Madeline E. “Toots” Brecar, 87, of Mechanicsville, MD formerly of Alexandria, VA died February 3, 2009 at her residence. Born November 23, 1921 in Alexandria, VA she was the daughter of the late Daniel M. and Audrey Madeline Beach Kelly. She was the wife of the late Ray J. Brecar, Sr. whom she married on July 28, 1937 in Forestville, MD and who preceded her in death on April 26, 1994. She is survived by her children Barbara E. Young of Alexandria, VA, Sheila R. Canard of Lady Smith, VA, Audrey Sandra Roach of Fredericksburg, VA, Mary Angela Jordon of WV, Ray “Sonny” J. Brecar, Jr. and Michael A. “Tony” Brecar both of Mechanicsville, MD, her sister Josephine Taylor of Hartwood, VA as well as fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Madeline graduated from St. Mary’s Academy “Class of 1935” and enjoyed crocheting, painting and reading books. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingely-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers will be Ray Brecar, Jr., Tony Brecar, Troy Young, Kip Young, Jim Roach and Michael Fox. Condolences to the family can be made at www.mgfh.com. “Our hearts are broken by the loss of Nanny Brecar. The children wept with such a loss of a beautiful person and for the enduring sadness to Poppa, Tony, Me-maw and family.
