The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 6:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD with Father Marco Shad officiating.
Margaret Delores Currie, 71, of Lexington Park, MD died at her home on October 7, 2014. She was born on June 10, 1943 in Clements, MD to the late Walter and Nellie (Adams) Raley.
Margaret married Richard Currie on February 19, 1970. She was a student of Margaret Brent High School. Margaret enjoyed many years working at St. Mary’s Hospital until she retired in 2008.
She enjoyed working in the garden, bird watching, “The Golden Girls” and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children; Margi Hoffman (Rob) of Winchester, VA, Irene Anderson (Jimmy) of Winchester, VA, Larry Hoffman (Missy) of Lexington Park, MD, Aggie Laungayan (Noel) of Lexington Park, MD, and Richie Currie (Nikki) of Lexington Park, MD.
She is survived by her brother, J.K. Raley of Baltimore, MD, her sisters; Juanita Johnson of Hollywood, MD, and Mary “Sis” Norris of Hollywood, MD, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Currie, her sons; Herman E. Hoffman, Jr., and Joseph R. Currie, Jr., her grandson, Joseph Louis Currie, her brothers; Louis Raley, Leonard Raley and Al Raley and sister Shirley Hewitt.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Chapel of the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD with Father Marco Shad officiating. A celebration of life and prayers will take place at 6:00 PM.
The immediate family will have a private burial service for their mother at a later date, as she will be cremated and presented to her family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Margaret Currie to: St. Mary’s Hospice P.O. Box 625 Leonardtown, MD 20650.
