Margaret Delores "Margie" Guy

Margaret D. “Margie” Guy, 72, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on April 7, 2024 in Washington, D.C., surrounded by her son, Joseph E. “Joey” Guy IV; her daughter, Christin L. “Chrissy” Guy; and her daughter-in-law, Rebecca J. “Becky” Guy. Born on January 2, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Bernard L. “Lawrence” Buckler and Lucy I. “Isabelle” Buckler who both passed in 2007. She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph E. “Joe” Guy III on April 22, 1972 in Morganza, MD; he preceded her in death in 2011. One of seven children, she is survived by her brother, Thomas W. “Wayne” Buckler, Sr. (Julie) of Mechanicsville, MD. She was preceded in death by her siblings Patricia M. “Pat” Gardiner formerly of Charlotte Hall, MD; Donald P. “Donnie” Buckler, formerly of Leonardtown, MD; Francis L. “Larry” Buckler, formerly of Fort Myers, FL; Robert L. “Rabbit” Buckler, formerly of Mechanicsville, MD; and Raymond D. “Dale” Buckler, formerly of Mechanicsville, MD. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD, she graduated from Chopticon High School in 1970. She also attended the St. Mary’s Technical Center in Leonardtown, MD, where she completed the Cosmetology program. She began her career as a beautician, but later started an in-home daycare so she could raise her young children. Through this career change, she helped raise many other children over the years—whether they were family or friends, they all affectionately referred to her as “Aunt Margie” even after her retirement. Throughout her life, she enjoyed volunteering in her kids’ elementary school classrooms; she also loved locating the perfect finds at yard sales, some of which led to collections of bowls, platters, and juicers; she played card games and attended card parties with friends and family; she helped in the fields for several years, planting and stripping tobacco on the family farm; she canned fresh veggies purchased from the local Amish and Mennonite communities where she made many lifelong friendships; she cared for family members including her parents, father-in-law, etc. as they navigated medical challenges; she listened to a variety of music—two of her favorite artists were Elvis Presley and Laine Hardy; and she loved “babysitting” her grand-dogs, Daisy and Sanford, who also preceded her in death. A private graveside service will be held at Charles Memorial Gardens for immediate family members at a later date. A celebration of life will be held immediately after the service for extended family and friends (details will be provided separately).
