The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Lexington Park, MD where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Fr. Jack Kennealy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Margaret Gertrude Curtis, 89 of Lexington Park, MD, and formerly of Medley’s Neck, MD died on March 30, 2010 at Coryell Memorial Hospital in Gatesville, TX. Born December 9, 1921 in Medley’s Neck, MD, she was the daughter of the late Buster and Rosie Mills. She was the loving wife of the late Peter X. Curtis who preceded her in death in 1959. She is survived by her children; Peter X. Curtis of Mount Vernon, VA, George F. Curtis and his wife Shirley of Mechanicsville, MD, Margaret A. Curtis of Lexington Park, MD, Wendell Curtis and his wife Debra of Lexington Park, MD, Sheila Shavers and her husband Lester of Gatesville, TX and Brenda Manns and her husband Daryl of Baltimore, MD as well as 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Darnell Curtis and her sisters Rosie Day and Mary Digs. Margaret was a cook for The Roost restaurant for 40 years. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Lexington Park, MD where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M with Fr. Jack Kennealy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Franklin Briscoe, Troy Barnes, John D. Curtis, Sheldon Curtis, Byron Young and Duvale Mason. Daren Curtis and Keith Curtis will be honorary pallbearers.

My mother,Thelma Gaston was her roomate at the Meadows.When my mom first came to the Meadows,she was not able to feed herself well.I came to help my mom every Saturday and Sunday morning,where we shared the table with Mrs.Curtis. I want you to know that Ms.Margaret’s smile,and her personality helped lighten my heart and I feel that she helped my mother transition into assisted living.
