Margaret Rose Greenwell

Margaret Rose Greenwell, a beloved mother, cherished friend, and devoted member of the Leonardtown community, passed on September 12, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on April 27, 1943, in Leonardtown, MD, to Leonard and Margaret Gray, Margaret was the embodiment of kindness, compassion, and unwavering strength.

Margaret Rose was united in marriage to her beloved husband William on November 25, 1961, at St. John Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD. Together, they built a loving home where countless memories were created. As a dedicated homemaker, Margaret nurtured her family with all the love and care in her heart.

Her life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and friendship. She had the unique ability to make everyone around her feel valued and cherished, and her warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Margaret Rose is survived by her children Frederick Leonard Greenwell (Ruth) of Leonardtown, MD, Kimberly Ann Greenwell of Leonardtown, MD, brother Charles Gray, Five grandchildren and one great grandchild, four step grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Foley Gray, Sr., Margaret Virginia (Downs) Gray, Husband William Clarence Greenwell, Sr., children, William Clarence Greenwell, Jr., Charles Anthony Greenwell, and brothers Leonard Foley Gray, Jr. and Frank Gray.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM in Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. with Father David Beaubien officiating in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD. Interment to follow in Charels Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Leonardtown, MD.
