Marguerite Viola "Margie" Goddard

Marguerite “Margie” Viola Goddard, 97, of Callaway, MD passed away on August 8, 2017 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on June 26, 1920 in Compton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Gertrude Gladys Moore Taylor and William Shadrick Taylor. Margie was the wife of the late Joseph Allan Goddard, Sr. Margie is survived by her children; Joseph Allan Goddard, Jr. of Lusby, MD, and Karen Sue Rice of MI. Siblings: Billy Lee. She was preceded in death by her children: Michael Coates Goddard, and Jo Anne Poe, as well as her siblings; Earl Taylor, Bobby Lee, Virginia Morgan, Hilda “Boots” Bailey, Kenneth Delahay and Ronald Delahay.
She was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and graduated from Margaret Brent High School. Margie was a supply clerk at the Patuxent Naval Air Station, retiring in 1986. Margie enjoyed making flower arrangement, crafts, window shopping. In addition, she loved spending time with family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 10:00AM -11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD, where a Funeral Service will held at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be: Chris Goddard, Robin Goddard, Joseph Daniel Graves, Al Faunce, William S. Bailey, Jr. and Michael Lee.

So sorry to hear of Margie’s passing. She was a wonderful person. I worked with Margie at Supply Dept. becoming good friends and having lunch together. Margie would invite some of over to her cozy trailer and fix supper for us. Great memories. Rest in peace Margie.
Ms. Margie, You were such a beautiful soul. Your sweet smile and gorgeous blue eyes always reminded me of my grandmother. I was so fortunate to meet you and your lovely family members at the Nursing Home. May your dear soul R.I.P! I know Jesus has a special spot just for you.

To Ms. Margie’s Family: We meet many sweet and dear people in life and Ms. Margie was one I’ll never forget. She was a tiny lady with a beautiful smile. I’ve known her for several years from the nursing home and she quickly felt like family. She will be missed. I am sure God had a special place waiting for her in Heaven and she is looking down at us now with that big special smile. RIP Ms. Margie!
Margie was a great Lady, always kind and considerate and will be missed by all who knew her.
