Mario Antonio Reed, 23, departed this life on September 28, 2004 in LaPlata, MD. Born on June 13, 1981 in Prince Frederick, MD, he was the son of Paul Reed and Denise Ann Hebb. He was the stepson of John Hebb. He is survived by his fiancé, Rachele Meridith and his daughter, Destiny Reed. He is also survived by his grandmother, Teresa Harris, brothers, Troy Hebb, John Hebb, Jr. and LiLi Hebb, and a sister Denise Gibson. Also surviving are his Uncles, Thomas Harris, Jr., Sherwood Harris, James (Peanut) Shorter, Paul Jenkins and Leon Courtney and his Aunts, Velma Jenkins, Jacqueline Harris, Marcia Harris, and Sherry Harris. Mario is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Harris. His family became residents of St. Mary's County when Mario was 5 years old. He attended Great Mills High School and as a young man he was a volunteer at Lexington Park Rescue Squad. In the latter years of his life he worked with Dutch Craftsmen making bats for the New York Yankees. Mario was multi-talented and his greatest enjoyment was landscaping and working with his hands. He was very resourceful at many different trades and his pride was making baseball bats for the New York Yankees. Mario was a blessing not only to his family and friends, but to everyone who was lucky enough to come in contact with him. They were blessed by his warm heart and the ray of sunshine that flouted over him everywhere he went. We love you, Mario. We'll miss you. There will be a Graveside Service at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Cleveland Hall officiating and Rev. John Schrank co-officiating. Pallbearers will be Troy Hebb, Cecil Thomas, George Brooks, Paul Jenkins, Eric Jones, and Wesley Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be Sherwood Harris and Thomas Harris, Jr. Arrangements provided by Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A.
