Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Dobson officiating. Interment will follow Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation: Public Visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, 2005 from 9:15 - 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Marion Elizabeth Payne, 89, of Lexington Park, MD formerly of Washington, NC died June 24, 2005 in Bayside Care Center. Born February 29, 1916 in Washington, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rosa Clark Mercer. She was preceded in death by her husband James Homer Payne, Sr. in Hollywood, MD on April 12, 1976 whom she married in Norfolk, VA, June,1950. She is survived by her children: James Homer Payne, Jr. of Lexington Park, MD; Gene Whichard of Lusby, MD; and, David Whichard. She is also survived by her sister, Annie Everett of Washington, NC; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and, one great-great grandchild. Ms. Payne relocated to St. Mary's County from Norfolk, VA in 1950. The family received friends on Monday, June 27, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where a Memorial Service was held with Rev. Joe Dobson officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
