Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. George Catholic Church Valley Lee, MD with Father Paul Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 5:00 PM -8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD.
Mary Agnes Cobbs, 90, of Piney Point, MD passed away at her residence on November 12, 2014. Born on September 19, 1924 in Valley Lee, MD, she was the daughter of the late Mary Madeline and Bernard Bradburn. Mary was the loving wife of Walter H. Cobbs, whom she married on May 14, 1948 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and who preceded her in death on April 11, 1998. Mary is survived by her son Charles W. Cobbs of Piney Point, MD, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister Leah Koehler. Mary graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1941, and was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD. Mary worked as a bus driver and was a member of the Bus Drivers Association and St. George Catholic Church; she enjoyed embroidering, and sewing.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be; Sonney Forrest, Steve Wendling, Mike Koehler, George Thompson, Thomas Saxon and Billy Thompson.

“She was such an incredible woman. Loved her dearly. Some if my fondest childhood memories are because of her. It wasn’t until many years into my adulthood that I learned she and my mom shared the same birthday. Always made a point to visit her on her birthday, even after my mom passed. I will miss her dearly, but am at peace knowing she is wuth my mom in heaven and they may once more share their birthday’s together. “I was so sad to hear of Mrs. Cobb’s passing. I first met her while she was driving the bus. Whenever I saw her after that she always made it a point to stop and speak. She was a gentle lady with a kind heart. I somehow made it on her Christmas card list and always looked forward to receiving a card from her.
