Mary Alice Stasch

Mary Alice Stasch, 89, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on January 12, 2016 in Washington, DC. Born on October 25, 1926 in Hughesville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Katie Marie Buckler Hill and Frank C. Hill. Mary was preceded in death by her husband August Henry Stasch who passed away on June 15, 2004, and, whom she married on November 1, 1942 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Mechanicsville, MD. Mary is survived by her children: Alice Marie Tiede of Las Vegas, NV, Brenda Delores Raley of Mechanicsville, MD, 8 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, and Brother Ralph Hill of Mechanicsville, MD. Mary fostered her nephew for 45 years and he lovingly called her “Mama”. She was preceded in death by her son Roy M (Mike) Stasch, siblings: Elmer Hill, Dick Hill, Pete Hill, and Thelma Wood. Mary moved from Hughesville, MD in 1942 to St. Mary’s County, MD. She was a homemaker and farmer. Mary loved to garden, canning vegetables, cooking, and was known for her fantastic fried chicken, and potato salad. She was known for her fantastic fried chicken. In her later years she was taken care of by a few special people: Linda Suite, Mattie Miles, James and Annie Holley. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 2:00 PM – 5:00PM with prayers recited at 3:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Mechanicsville, MD with Father Michael Tietjen officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers will be: Eric Tiede, J.R. Guy, David Seekford, Jay Raley, Craig Pilkerton, and John Latham. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Hank Buckler, Jr. and Mike Latham. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mechanicsville Vol. Rescue Squad P.O. Box 15 Mechanicsville, MD 20659.
