Mary Alice Stasch

Mary Alice Stasch, 89, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on January 12, 2016 in Washington, DC. Born on October 25, 1926 in Hughesville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Katie Marie Buckler Hill and Frank C. Hill. Mary was preceded in death by her husband August Henry Stasch who passed away on June 15, 2004, and, whom she married on November 1, 1942 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Mechanicsville, MD. Mary is survived by her children: Alice Marie Tiede of Las Vegas, NV, Brenda Delores Raley of Mechanicsville, MD, 8 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, and Brother Ralph Hill of Mechanicsville, MD. Mary fostered her nephew for 45 years and he lovingly called her “Mama”. She was preceded in death by her son Roy M (Mike) Stasch, siblings: Elmer Hill, Dick Hill, Pete Hill, and Thelma Wood. Mary moved from Hughesville, MD in 1942 to St. Mary’s County, MD. She was a homemaker and farmer. Mary loved to garden, canning vegetables, cooking, and was known for her fantastic fried chicken, and potato salad. She was known for her fantastic fried chicken. In her later years she was taken care of by a few special people: Linda Suite, Mattie Miles, James and Annie Holley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 2:00 PM – 5:00PM with prayers recited at 3:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Mechanicsville, MD with Father Michael Tietjen officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers will be: Eric Tiede, J.R. Guy, David Seekford, Jay Raley, Craig Pilkerton, and John Latham. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Hank Buckler, Jr. and Mike Latham. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mechanicsville Vol. Rescue Squad P.O. Box 15 Mechanicsville, MD 20659.

Brenda and Family; I didn’t know until now that your dear, sweet Mother had passed. I am so sorry for your loss. I loved to assist her when she came into the bank. What a delightful and special lady she was who brought joy and laughter to all of us. I smile thinking what a sweet little rascal she was. I pray that God will keep his loving arms of comfort around you all. We know she has reached her heavenly home where all her cares, worries and suffering are gone.
