Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD with Fr. John Barry officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. Mary Elizabeth Bailey Lawrence, 93, of Colton's Point, MD died October 16, 2006 in St. Mary's Nursing Center, Leonardtown, MD. Born June 6, 1913 in River Springs, MD she was the daughter of the late James Callistus and Grace Ella Thompson Bailey. She married Francis DeSales Lawrence in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD on July 2, 1934 and were married for 59 years before he preceded her in death on March 13, 1993. She is survived by her children: Charles Emory Lawrence and his wife Barbara of Hollywood, MD, Rose Frances White of Coltons Point, MD, William DeSales Lawrence and his wife Marcie of Waldorf, MD and George Elliott Lawrence and his wife Debbie of Bushwood, MD; 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her children: James Francis "Jimmie" Lawrence and Barbara Ann Lawrence Colson; siblings: Pearl Bailey Hall, Joseph Fenwick Bailey, Lillian Bailey Twilly, James T. Bailey, Grace Marie Kennedy, Charles Bailey, Mary Frances Bailey, Francis "Tootie" Bailey and George C. Bailey; grandchildren: Dale Allan Nelson and William DeSales Lawrence, Jr. Mrs. Lawrence began her life in River Springs, MD, the daughter of a store merchant. She attended River Springs, Holy Angels and Margaret Brent School where she graduated with Class of 1930. She has been a life long parishoner of Holy Angels Church, Avenue, MD. She and her husband built their own grocery store in the 40's and spent most of their years working there. Later in life much of her time was spent in her yard, cutting grass or tending her flowers and bushes. She also enjoyed the company of her family members and friends. She was Grand Maw to all. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM.
