Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 1, 2006 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD, with Fr. John Barry officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation: Public visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday, March 31, 2006 from 4:30 - 8:00 PM with prayers being said at 5:00 PM. Mary Emily Oliver Long, 85 of Avenue, MD died March 28, 2006 in St. Maryland Hospital. Born August 31, 1920 in Avenue, MD she was the daughter of the late Thomas Vick and Mary "Whittie" Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph "Ollie" Long, whom she married in 1938 in Holy Angels Church, Avenue, MD. She is survived by her children Joe Long, Sr., T.V. Long, Ricky Long, and Melanie Poole all of Avenue, MD, Buddy Long and Ray Long both of Leonardtown, MD, Bill Long of Waldorf, MD and Gary Long of Clements, MD; 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Long was also preceded in death by her siblings Thomas Edward "Buck" Oliver, John Henry Oliver and Mary Thelma Hall. Mrs. Long was a lifelong St. Mary's County resident where she was a graduate of Riversprings School. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, bingo, spending time with her children and grandchildren and with her special cousin Rae Hill. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 31, 2006 from 4:30 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 5:00 PM.
