A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Morganza, MD with Fr. Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 16, 2012 from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD.
Mary Evelyn Bailey, 94, of Winfield, WV., formerly from Morganza, MD passed away on July11, 2012 in Leon, WV. Born on May 13, 1918 in Dawson, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward, and Elzada Nutter Thompson. Mary was the loving wife of the late James “Harry” Bailey whom preceded her in death on August 19, 1998, and whom she married in Washington, DC in 1956. Mrs. Bailey is survived by her sister Christine Glidewell of Alta Vista, VA, nephew Raymond Anderson of Winfield, WV, many other nieces, and nephews. Mary moved from Washington, DC to St. Mary’s County in 1978, and she worked as a billing cashier for Sealtest Milk Company for 25 years. Mrs. Bailey was a member of various senior groups in St. Mary’s County such as the Senior Vibes, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morganza, MD., and she was often dressed as Minnie Pearl at many events. The family will receive friends on July 16, 2012 from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Morganza, MD. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. “She was Minnie Pearl to many senior citizens she entertained at the Garvey Center. What a wonderful southern lady; a beauty who loved our Uncle Harry as much the day he went on to heaven without her, as she did the day she married him. She was a true member of the Bailey family of St. Mary’s County, Md. We will always remember her and we all loved her very very much.”

“”Miss Mary” was always the consummate lady. She always worried about Harry’s health, but supported him with his interest in the Old St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where his family was buried. With the beauty that she had in her later years, she had to be a gorgeous woman in her youth. May she rest in peace now that she is back with her husband. God bless and keep you “Miss Mary”.”
