Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 12, 2006 @ 10AM in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 21370 Newtowne Neck Road, Compton, MD 20627. Interment will follow in the church cemtery. Visitation: Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2006 from 5 PM till 8 PM with prayers being said at 7 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. Mary Josephine McLeod, 86, of California, MD formerly of Brooklyn, NY died January 8, 2006 in Leonardtown, MD. Born March 20, 1919 in Staten Island, NY she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Catherine Higgins. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward F. McLeod in August of 1976 in Brooklyn, NY, whom she married in 1951 in CT. She is survived by her children: Donald & his wife Paula of Leonardtown, MD, William & his wife Eileen of Freehold, NJ; step son: Edward J. McLeod of Colts Neck, NJ; siblings: Sr. Josephine Higgins RSM of Albany, NY; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her step daughter: Ann Marie Cakouros; siblings: Evelyn Khlor and A. William Higgins. Ms. McLeod moved to St. Mary's County from Brooklyn, NY in October of 1994. She was one of the first residents of the Wildewood Retirement Village. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father John Mattingly officiating.
