Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady Star of the Sea, Solomons, MD, with Fr. Richard Gardiner officiating. Interment will be private.
Visitation:
A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 7:30 PM.
On February 7, 2005 Lavinia was released by her Almighty Father from pain and suffering from ovarian cancer and carried on wings of angels to her place of rest in Heaven. She is survived by her loving husband, Felix Patrick Gigliotti, of Lusby, MD; son Ken and his wife Cheryl of Fort Worth, TX; son Jim and his wife Lee of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter Molly and her husband Joe of Coronado, CA; daughter Trish and her husband Ray of Lusby, MD; son Bill and his wife Rhonda of Granbury, TX; and daughter Karen and her husband Bob of Annapolis, MD; and 17 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She traveled extensively with her husband and family to many Navy duty stations, supporting Pat in his naval career. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Lavinia was also an O.B. Nurse, who especially loved caring for new babies. An avid gardener, she enjoyed tending her roses. Her parents, Clellan K. and Mary A. Keefe, of Lusby, MD; sister, Judy Gerwig, of Hampstead, MD; and brothers, Jim Forrest and Bill Keefe, both of Lusby, MD also survive her. Lavinia was born on Solomons Island, MD on September 29, 1934. Following graduation from Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic High School, she attended Fleet Business School, Annapolis, MD. She married her husband, Pat, at St. Nicholas Church, Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD on June 26, 1954 while he was stationed there as a Naval Aviator. Prayer services will be held at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, 41590 Fenwick Street, Leonardtown, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 10, 2005 in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Solomons, MD. The family and friends will gather immediately after services in the Providence Room. Following Lavinia's wished, her ashes will be interred at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to St. Mary's Ryken High School Scholarship Fund, 22600 Camp Calvert Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650 or Calvert Hospice, 238 Merrimac Court, P. O. Box 838, Prince Frederick, MD 20678.
