Mary Lillian Blackistone Anderson, 97, of Abell, MD passed away on March 30, 2016 at her residence. Born on September 3, 1918 in Hollywood, MD, she was the daughter of the late Frances Violet Lathroum and Leo Aloysius Lathroum. Mary was the loving wife of the late Thomas Dewey Blackistone and William Alfred Anderson. Mary is survived by her children; Dorothy Norris (Bubba) of Hollywood, MD, Carolyn Stine (George) of Cobb Island, MD, Shirley Morris (Charlie) of Avenue, MD, Regina Erickson (Rick) of Simpsonville, SC, LeRoy Blackistone (Janice) of Chaptico, MD, Brenda Mattingly (Jamie) of Avenue, MD, step son Larry, 31 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren. Siblings; Theresa Knight, Mary Kelley, Wallace Lathroum, and James Lathroum. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Dewey Blackistone, Jr, step daughters Shuggie and Doris, siblings; Estelle Farrell, Agnes Card, Catherine Burke, Helen Eckard, Margaret Hall, and Aloysius Lathroum. She was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident. Mary enjoyed, spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as, sitting around telling stories from way back.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 Am in Holy Angels Catholic Church Avenue, MD with Father Anthony Lickteig officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be; Roy Blackistone, Jr, CB Morris, Mikey Blackistone, Joey Blackistone, Mike Ellis, and Jamie Woodall. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Keith Souders, Willie Johnson, and Lee Stine.

Roy, Janice, and the entire Blackistone family I send my condolences on the passing of your mom. She definitely lived a long life with all of you. The heart remembers most what it loved best. May she rest in peace.

I will miss my mother in law so much as well as any one who knew this beautiful lady.I will also miss the kiss I always got from her every time I went to her home. I would always tell her that her daughter my beautiful wife Brenda was gonna get jealous and she always get a big kick out of that. Another angel watching over the 7th D. Miss Mary was a wonderful neighbor and will be sorely missed. Family was so important to her and we were blessed to be a small part of her ‘s. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Grandma Blackistone sure will be missed by many she was a sweet lady, we will miss you Grandma but forever in our hearts. Tim, Kim and Sierra Blackistone.
