A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD with Fr. William Gurnee officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Church cemetery, Bushwood, MD.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be recited at 7:00 PM.
Mary Margaret Wood, 66, of Abell, MD died October 15, 2010 at her residence in Abell, MD. Born June 13, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Robert Archie and Mary Frances Owens. Mary was the loving wife of Charles J. “Bob” Wood whom she married on August, 3, 1963 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD. Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband and children; Robert J. Wood (Patty) of Leonardtown, MD, Catherine F. Bailey (Steve) and Laurie A. Muir (Mark) both of Bushwood, MD. She is also survived by her siblings; Mary Ann Bradberry (Pete) of Wilmington, NC and George A. Owens (Betty) of Milledgeville, GA as well as 7 grandchildren; Amanda N. Wathen (Steve), Samantha I. Wood, Lauren E. Wood, Robby J. Wood, Steven J. Bailey, Meaghan T. Bailey, and Owen M. Muir. Mrs. Wood graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1962. She worked as a receptionist with the Shah Associates and was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Pallbearers will be; Steven Bailey, Robby Wood, Robert Bradberry, Frankie Wood, Steve Wathen, and Pat Wilkinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Amanda Wathen, Samantha Wood, Lauren Wood, Meaghan Bailey and Owen Muir. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 PM, in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD; with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the St. John's Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 10:00 AM with Father Ray Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation:
Public Viewing/Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 from 5-8 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM.
Mary Margaret "Teny Baby" Wood, 60, of Clements, MD and formerly of Hollywood, MD, died July 2, 2004 in Clements, MD, born January 13, 1944 in Bushwood, MD to Charlotte Louise Cook and the late Robert Johnson Cook. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Warren Wood whom she married December 28, 1963 in Sacred Heart Church in Bushwood, MD and who preceded her in death on August 12, 1996. She was the devoted mother of Pam Major of Leonardtown, MD, Kenny Wood of Hollywood, MD and Sandy Lyon of Clements, MD. She is survived by her sisters Betty Stewart and Ann Marie Hall of Chaptico, MD, Elaine Toney of Avenue, MD and Susie Shotwell of Laurel Grove, MD. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren. Mrs. Wood was a lifelong St. Mary's County resident who graduated from Margaret Brent High School in 1963. She was a homemaker who loved to spend time with her grandchildren and play bingo. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 from 5 - 8 PM with prayers at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 10:00 AM in St. John's Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD with Father Ray Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Hall, Sr., Paul Toney, Bob Stewart, Glenn Shotwell, John Hall, Jr., Robbie Toney, Bobby Stewart and Franklin Shotwell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dusty Gilbert and Randy Hill. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650 and/or the American Cancer Society, St. Mary's County Unit, P.O. Box 1032, Lexington Park, MD 20653.
