Praying for the family
Mary Patricia “Pat” Martin, 92, of California, Maryland, and formerly of Oakley, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026. Born on March 16, 1934, in Leonardtown, Maryland, she was the daughter of William Haverman Mattingly, Sr. and Agnes Madeline Bailey Mattingly, and will be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Pat enjoyed gardening, traveling, and sharing fine meals with family and friends. She will be remembered with love for her kind spirit, her warmth, and the care she showed to those around her.
Pat was united in marriage to Francis William Martin, Jr. on July 4, 1981. She is survived by her children, Deborah L. Ragan of Hollywood, Maryland, Gordon H. Ragan, Jr. (Judy) of Hollywood, Maryland, and Janet L. Edwards (Joseph) of Aldie, Virginia. She is also survived by five grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, William H. “Bud” Mattingly, Jr., J. Gibbons Mattingly, William Francis Mattingly, Ignatius Stillman Mattingly, Louis Bertram Mattingly, and Elizabeth C. Mattingly.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Compton, MD. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment private.
Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Ragan, Maurice Owens, Paul Hafner, Ray Long, Ronald Mattingly, and Wayne Pilkerton.
