Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD with Fr. John Dakes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 12, 2011 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be recited at 7:00 PM. Mary T. Wathen, 82, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away on July 7, 2011 at her residence in Leonardtown, MD. Born on May 5, 1929 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. Ramos and Lola Catherine Bramble Ramos. She was the loving wife of Stephen E. Wathen whom she married in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leonardtown, MD on August 14, 1948. Mrs. Wathen is survived by her children; Mary Jeanne Plourde of Eugene, Oregon, Michael Wathen of Idaho, Victor Wathen of Waldorf, MD, and Sharon Wathen of West Virginia. Mrs. Wathen is also survived by her siblings; Thelma Parr of Georgia, Joseph Ramos of Bushwood, Linda Knott of Leonardtown, MD, 6 grand children and 11 great grandchildren. She was a retail clerk with the Hewitt Lumber Company for 17 years retiring in 1991. Mrs. Wathen enjoyed potting flowers, quilting, going to yard sales, and was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. Mrs. Wathen was preceded in death by her siblings; Marjorie Dyke, Charles Ramos, Lenwood Ramos, Judy Clarke and Catherine ( Kitty) McMullen. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home where prayers will be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 12, 2011 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD with Fr. John Dakes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be; James Howe, Thomas Fink, Charles W. Morris, Victor Wathen, Kyle Fink, and Charles C. Morris. Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A, Leonardtown, MD.
