Services: A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 11:00 AM in the St. Mark's U.A.M.E. Church in Valley Lee, MD with the Rev. Rudy Brooks officiating. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing will be Wednesday, July 28, 2004 from 9:30 - 11:00 AM in the St. Mark's U.A.M.E Church in Valley Lee, MD. Mavis Madeline Travers, 51, of Lexington Park, MD a life long resident of St. Mary's County died on July 22, 2004 at her home in Lexington Park, MD. Born on July 5, 1953 in Drayden, MD, she was the daughter of the late Frances Leona Whalen and George Lloyd Travers. She is survived by her daughters Tuesday Hewlett of Lexington Park and Mavis Chase of Waldorf, MD. She also survived by her brothers and sisters Mary A. Travers, George T. Travers, Frances E. Morgan, James C. Morgan, Julia Wood, Stevenson T. Morgan, Mary A. Morgan of Lexington Park, and Eric Morgan of Solomons, MD and also by 4 grandchildren. Ms. Travers was employed as a Secretary for the U.S. Dept. of Interior until her retirement in 1993. She is preceded in death by her brothers Calvin Morgan, Leundus Morgan and sister Marion R. House. The family will receive friends today Wednesday, July 28, 2004 from 9:30 AM â?? 11:00 AM at St. Mark's U.A.M.E. Church in Valley Lee, MD where a Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Rudy C. Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Bryan, Johnny Brooks, Sr., Pete House, Alfred Jordan, Eric Morgan and Michael Wood. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Jackson and Allen Miles.
