Services: All services will be private. Melvin Curtis Green, 70, of Ridge, MD passed away on November 23, 2013 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, MD, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in McCaulley, TX( with a population of 96) and was the loving son of the late Travis Eugene and Mary Lois Vernon Green. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Judy Green. Children; Jonathon Green, Curtis Green, Timothy Green, LaWanda Green of TX, Brandon Green of Ridge, MD., Step children; Misty Morton, Russell and Tim Huffman of Ft. Worth, TX, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is a much loved and respected husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great grandfather. Melvin was born and raised in McCaulley, TX with a population of 96, with its own post office built and ran by his only brother Kerry Green. Mel graduated from the McCaulley Building School which was run by his father Travis Green who was the superintendent, principle, coach, math teacher, and bus drive. His mother was a school teacher , secretary, and assistant principle, along with his brother, the school also had a six man football and basket ball team. After, graduating from high school, Mel severed in the United States Navy for 8 years, his last station was in Corpus Christy, TX where he became a police officer. Melvin later used the G.I.Bill to graduate from Christian College in Abilene, TX with a degree in Teaching ( which was a family tradition). He moved his first family to Ft. Worth, TX to teach at Handly Middle School, where he taught shop, math, and was a coach. He also taught Judo and held a 4th degree in black belt. In 1972 he left teaching remarried, and rejoined the United States Navy, as a Naval air officer in the Vietnam War. Her retired from the service in 1989 as Commander and continued to work for in civil service for over 20 years, retiting in 2009. All services will be private.
