Nadine Ferguson
December 28, 1950 ~ February 20, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Nadine E. Ferguson, of Hollywood, MD, on February 20, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born on December 28, 1950, in Washington D.C., to the late Stewart and Galena “Gay” Priode. She is predeceased by her sister, Patricia “Patty” Young. Nadine is survived by her devoted husband, Dale Ferguson, children, Josh (Jenn) Ferguson, Carie Woodburn, and Dale Jr. (Laura) Ferguson, as well as her grandchildren, Camdyn and Emma Woodburn, Dominic Ferguson, and Sawyer Ferguson.
Nadine attended Oxon Hill High School, graduating in 1968. She then attended Prince George’s Community College for her associate’s degree, and went on to Salisbury State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1975.
She began her professional career in education, holding various positions as a teacher, coach, and volunteer. Shortly after starting in education, she found her true passion for Human Resources. She quickly made a name for herself through hard work and determination. Nadine spent most of her career between the Naval Research Laboratory in D.C. and the Patuxent River Naval Air Station here in St. Mary’s County, MD, where she retired from the government after 32 years and seven months of dedicated service.
Nadine had a love for dance. She danced from her early childhood all the way through high school and into college, where she became a cheerleader. She cheered for Prince George’s Community College, Salisbury State University, and for the Washington Redskins as a Redskinette for the 1975/76 football season.
Nadine’s greatest passion and devotion were to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She met Dale in 1975 at Charlie’s West Side in Annapolis, MD. They married in November1976 at Oxon Hill Methodist Church and the rest, as they say, was history. They shared 49 years together full of love, happiness, and dedication to each other. Nadine’s children and grandchildren were her life’s purpose and most cherished possession. She has instilled in them the values and true meaning of integrity, kindness, compassion, empathy, parenthood, and what it means to be a genuine human being. Her family shares countless memorable moments and will hold them close to their hearts as they cherish her memory every day.
Nadine loved painting, knitting, and gardening. She was an avid Washington (Redskins) Commanders and Washington Nationals fan. She loved music, especially Bluegrass, Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler, and Frank Sinatra.
Nadine’s life was well-lived, the way she wanted until the very end, surrounded by those who meant the most. Her life is a testament to the power of kindness, love, happiness, and dedication. Nadine’s legacy of these things will carry on through her husband, children, and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
