Patricia Long Lyon passed away peacefully in Fredericksburg, VA on November 4, 2025. Pat was born in Leonardtown, MD on June 22, 1936. She is survived by her children Rosemary Lyon of Latrobe, PA, Linda Lyon Parker (Kerry) of Alexandria, VA, Patricia (PJ) Lyon-Patterson (Fred) of Berlin, MD, Sharon James of Mayking, KY, Janet Lyon of Houston, TX; her grandchildren Jesse (Bubba) Lyon, Kasey Lyon Hatcher (Trey), Aaron Mauck (Paige), Holden James, Jarrett Patterson (Juliana); great grandchildren Jackon, Easton, Savannah, and Delilah Hatcher. She is survived by her sister Helene Farrall of Bushwood, MD, along with four nieces and one nephew; her sister-in-law Mary Jean Lyon of Bethesda, MD; a special cousin Brenda Lyon Gardiner; and her longtime best friend from childhood Thomas Harold Rice of Interlaken, NY. Pat was preceded in death by her son Richard Lyon, Jr; parents William Blair Long and Rose Alberta Thompson Long; and the father of her children James Richard Lyon, Sr. She grew up in Faulkner, MD, graduating from Archbishop Neale Catholic School in La Plata, MD and attended St. Ignatius Catholic Church at Chapel Point, MD. She worked as a substitute teacher and as an aide at Leonardtown Elementary School. She co-owned The Fabric Nook and worked at the Fashion Center in Leonardtown, MD. She later worked for Patuxent River and Dahlgren DOD contractors in the technology field where she made many friends during her 18-year tenure before retiring in 2002. Pat had a passion for genealogy, reviving plants and flowers, photography, solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed crocheting, a craft she learned from her Grandmother Thompson. Summers at Chapel Point were among her fondest memories, where she enjoyed swimming, roller skating, and participating in church and fire department picnic dinners. She spent the last two years thriving in assisted living where she made new friends and participated in various activities. The family would like to thank the Spring Arbor Fredericksburg community for the care and friendship they provided. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 9:30AM to 10:30AM in Mattingley Gardiner Funeral Home. Where a funeral service will be held at 10:30AM in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Joe Lloyd officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bushwood, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be made to the family at www.mgfh.com.
