Ralph Leonard "Shorby & George" Shorback, 51 of Great Mills, MD formerly of Dameron, MD died July 10, 2005 in John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Born October 8, 1953 in Leonardtown, MD he was the son of the late William and Margaret Eleanor Trossbach Shorback. He was the husband of Debbie Sue Sparks Shorback whom he married on January 31, 1981 in the Church of Nazarene, Hollywood, MD. He is survived by his children: Tiffany Sue, Jamie Lynn and Brittany Leyla Shorback all of Great Mills, MD; brothers: Lawrence Shorback of Hollywood, MD, Louis Shorback of Wilmington, DE and Charles Shorback of Ridge, MD; 36 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews. Mr. Shorback was a life long St. Mary's County resident where he attended Great Mills High School and also 4 years of technical school for carpentry. He worked as a Master Carpenter for over 30 years. His hobbies were woodworking, fine craftman, boating and fishing. His friends were special to him and his family was a very important part of his life. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel with Father O'Connell of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Ridge, MD officiating and Father Ray Schmidt of St. John's Catholic Church co-officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Shorback, Jr., Wally Sparks, Jr., Dan Sparks, Mikeal Sparks, Syd Mooreland and Pat Ridgell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Farquhar, Robert Herndon, Donald Goddard, Jack Carney, Frank Ford and all of his brother-in-laws.
