Funeral Services will be held on Thursday,July 6,2006, 10:00AM in Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will Follow at Charles Memorial Gardens.
Visitation:
Public Visitation will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5,2006 from 5:00-8:00 PM with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM.
Raymond Earl "Big Ray" Koncen, 85, of Mechanicsville, MD died June 30, 2006 in Mechanicsville, MD. Born October 28, 1920 in Trenton, NJ he was the son of the late Hugh and Gladys Baker Koncen. He was the loving husband of Marguerite Koncen whom he married on February 9, 1946 in Washington, D.C. He is survived by his children Linda Kuehnle and her husband Jerry of Drayden, MD; Ray Koncen and his wife Maureen and Dale Koncen and his wife Brenda all of Mechanicsville, MD; Denise Ratcliff and her husband Bob of Manassas, VA; He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn Schmitt. He graduated from McKinley Tech in 1938. He worked as an Electronics Engineer for the Naval Research Lab until his retirement in 1978 after thirty seven years of service. He moved to St. Mary's County in 1976 from Oxon Hill, MD. He enjoyed playing the guitar and organ, loved Lionel Trains and Amateur Radio. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 5, 2006 from 5:00- 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, with the Masonic Service at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Dobson officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be James Cummings, Michael Weigand, Nathen Ratcliff, Kenny Ratcliff, Nick VanDalen, and Matt McCauley. Honorary Pallbearers are Scott Nelson and Taylor Koncen. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
