Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 10:30 AM in St. George's Catholic Church, Valley Lee, MD with Fr. Mark Ervin officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2006 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Raymond Wesely "Ray" Sydnor, 71, of Valley Lee, MD formerly of Mechanicsville,MD died June 23, 2006 in Valley Lee, MD. Born in January 4, 1935 in Prince Georges, MD was the son of the late Robert Wesley and Hulda Stone Sydnor. The husband of Theodora "Audie" Lorraine Hill Sydnor married on September 12, 1959 of Immaculate Conception Church of Mechanicsville. He is survived by his children: David Wesley Sydnor of Valley Lee, MD, James Louis Sydnor of Leoanrdtown, MD, Letitia Marie Tomaszewki of Cherry Hill, NJ, Timothy Earl Sydnor of Mechanicsville, MD and Gerald Doran Sydnor of Hinesville, GA; siblings: Ruth Crowe and Robert Sydnor both of VA, Dorothy Watts and Rosie Hoovler both of FL, Richard Sydnor of CA, Roland Sydnor of Mechanicsville, MD, Rita Larson of WA and Rusty Sydnor of Owings, MD and thirteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Brenda Jean Sydnor. Mr. Sydnor moved to St. Mary's County from Prince George's County in 1949 where he worked as a farmer and logger. He enjoyed crabbing, camping, and traveling. The family received friends on Monday, June 26, 2006 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 in St. George's Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Ervin officiating. Interment followed in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ernest Stone, Wayne Hewitt, Ricky Hill, Andy Hill, Steven Guy, Frankie Norris, Donnie Long and John Keaton. Honorary Pallbearers were Diane Wood and Lisa Strausbaugh. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, Maryland 20650. Arrangements were provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A.
