Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Fr. Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday, January 2, 2009 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Prayers being recited at 7:00PM. Richard “Ricky” Charles Diehl, 56, of Mechanicsville, MD died December 29, 2008 at CiVista Hospital. He was born February 1, 1952 in Leonardtown, MD to Mary Evelyn Diehl of Mechanicsville, MD and the late Edward LaFayette Diehl. He was the loving husband of Joan L. Anderson Diehl whom he married on November 18, 1977 in Immaculate Conception Church. He is also survived by his children Richard Brian Diehl and Julie Lynn Diehl, both of Mechanicsville, MD as well as his siblings; Raymond Diehl of FL, , Donna Hill of Deale, MD, David Diehl and Patrick Diehl, both of Mechanicsville, MD. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, Ricky graduated from Chopticon High School “Class of 1971”. He was an electrical engineer for NAS Patuxent River for 19 years and was a truck driver for Burch Oil Company for 17 years. He enjoyed working in the yard, playing cards and watching sports and the news on television. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 2, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Fr. Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be Mike Anderson, Travis Anderson, Justin Anderson, Josh Diehl, Bobby Johnson and Phil Quade. Contributions may be made to Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 37, Mechanicsville, MD and/or Mechancisville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 15, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.
