Prayers will be recited on Monday, August 29, 2005 at 7:00 PM.in the Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 30, 2004 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Monday, August 29, 2005 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home.
Robert Aloysius "Butch" Thompson, Sr., 62, of Bushwood, MD died August 27, 2005 at his home in Bushwood, MD. Born January 8, 1943 in Avenue, MD he was the son of the late Thomas Bertrand and Louise Russell Thompson, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Myrtle Hill Thompson, whom he married in Holy Angels Church on October 12, 1963. He is also survived by his children, Joan V. Farr of Clements, MD and Robert A. Thompson, Jr. of Chaptico, MD and four grandchildren. Mr. Thompson is also survived by his siblings, Sister Mary Martha Thompson of Wheeling, WV, Thomas B. Thompson of Mechanicsville, MD, Harriet Cuel of Jellico, TN, George Thompson of Hollywood, MD, Johnny Thompson of Avenue, MD and Teresa Mills and Dot Reichard both of Leonardtown, MD. He was a life-long resident of St. Mary's County and attended Margaret Brent High School. He was employed by the U. S. Government as a 911 Dispatcher, working in Public Safety at Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD. The family received friends on August 29, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on August 30, 2005 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Father Francis J. Early officiating. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Thompson were Frankie Quade, Billy Thompson, Tommy Thompson, Glenn Thompson, Bobby Wimberly, Johnny Thompson, Jay Thompson and Jeff Mills.
