Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I went to school with Bob in Sigonella Sicily and we were good friends, His parents and my parents were good friends as well. Both our fathers worked for Grumman Aerospace. Sad to hear of his passing. I have a lot of great memories of hanging out with him over there in Sicily. 1979-1984. Both our families lived in LA PERLA IONICA, it was a resort on the coast of Sicily, the both of us were into skin diving and would be in the water just about everyday digging up coral. I also remember Bob had a huge record collection, and eventually became the disc jockey at the resort, both inside and outside discos located on the resort grounds. I have so many more memories of that time. Lots of pics of both our families on trips around Sicily. RIP Bob!
    Bob Albrecht

  2. I have many good memories of Bob. I also knew Mr. Albrecht there were 4 of us that would tend to run around the la Perla Ionica. (Saddens me to see it closed) My father was also a Grumman employee. (Grummanite) The four of us (Bob Albrerecht, James Horan, Bob Bornschine and myself. We were fairly constantly running around or in the water all be it the Med or the pool. I remember one day Bob and I were on a rock in the med and an old French man swam out to the rock that we were on. Just as he arrived a small but well timed wave swamped the poor old man and took him down. Bob and I looked at each other and after some profanity we pulled the old man out of the water and onto the rock. It was a good thing that we were there as I am to this day sure that he would had never made it if we hadn’t.
Bob and I had been talking for some time on the phone and I was trying to get together with him. If only for a day. We would talk on the phone sometimes for well over an hour talking about whatever came to mind. Sort of like we did in Sicily. I guess some things never change. I kept trying to get in touch with him but shortly after Covid hit his phone was turned off. I kept trying but eventually I found this.
I found out about a year ago or so that Bob had passed. It has taken me a while to sit down and wright this. My heart just hurts to much. Bob will always be missed by me. Good people should be missed.
