A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 2 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angles Catholic Church with Msgr. John Brady officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation:
Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 1 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home from 5:00 - 8:00 PM with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM
Robert Joseph "Bob" Arnold, 73, of Abell, MD died May 26, 2005 in St. Mary's Hospital. Born March 14, 1932 in Abell, MD he was the son of the late Garnett Lancaster and Cora Mae Buckler Arnold. He was the loving husband of Hilda Mae Goldsmith Arnold whom he married on April 27, 1957 in St. Ignatius Church, Chapel Point, MD. He is survived by his daughters: Barbara J. Fenwick and her husband Andy of Avenue, MD and Jennifer L. Huntington of Bushwood, MD; Grandchildren: Aaron J. Fenwick and Amy M. Fenwick both of Avenue, MD. He was preceded in death by his son-in law: Robert Wayne Huntington; brothers: Richard "Dick" Arnold and Francis H. Arnold. Mr. Arnold was a life long St. Mary's County resident and graduate of Margaret Brent School Class of 1951. He worked for 31 years at the Dept. of Natural Resources as a Maryland Natural Resource Police Officer until his retirement on August 15, 1985. The organizations to which he belonged were: Charter member of the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad where he served as chief for 28 years and as President. He became the first Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in 1972 which he maintained until his death. He was Assistant County Rescue Chief, Past instructor for First Aid, Advanced First Aid, Crash Injury & management course and CPR, Co-founder of ACTS (A Community that Shares) and served on the Board of Directors, Served on St. Clements Island Museum Board of Directors, Member of the Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department where he took his first fire-fighting course in 1951, served as Secretary and Lieutenant and was a past member and representative of the Board of Director for United Giver Fund. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 1 from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Aaron Fenwick, Amy Fenwick, Pat Arnold, Gary Sutphin, Billy Rice and Harold Hayes. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad Members, Dept. of Natural Resources Police Officers and The Senior Citizens Club of McDonald.
