Services: A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 10:00 AM in the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. Robert Myrle Williams, 86 of Leonardtown, MD, formerly of Waldorf, MD, died March 10, 2006 in Leonardtown, MD. Born November 7, 1919 he was the son of the late Walter Henson and Ola Garrison Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife Hilda A. Williams on May 29, 1996, whom he married on December 22, 1943 in Culpeper, VA. He is survived by his daughter Betty Henderson of Piney Point, MD and his brother Walter Williams of Barboursville, VA; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mr. Williams was also preceded in death by his brothers Clarence and James Williams. Mr. Williams moved to St. Mary's County in October 1996 from Waldorf, MD. He was employed as a truck driver for Peoples Drug/CVS in Springfield, VA for 28 years until his retirement in December 1981. He served in the U.S. Navy from June 25, 1941 until December 19, 1946. During his military career he served in World War II and received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign, American Defense Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the American Area Campaign Medal. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 from 2:00 â?? 4:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 10:00 AM in the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD with Rev. Joseph Dobson officiating.
