Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at 10 AM in Trinity Episcopal Church in Newport, MD with Rev. Ellie Brown officiating. Visitation: A Viewing will be held on Monday, August 30 in Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home from 5 - 8 PM. Rosalie "Rosie" Rollins Swann 96, of Mechanicsville, died on August 27, 2004 in Leonardtown, MD. Born January 28, 1908 in Charlotte Hall, MD she was the daughter of the late Rachel Thompson Rollins and David M. Rollins. She was the loving wife to the late John Benjamin Swann who passed on December 25, 1997 whom she married on September 28, 1934 in LaPlata, MD. She is survived by her son John Samuel Swann of Mechanicsville. She is preceded in death by her brothers Paul Butler Rollins and James Carroll Rollins. Mrs. Swann graduated from LaPlata High School in 1925. She was a life long Charles County resident. Mrs. Swann was a homemaker who loves to help others; friends, church and fire department functions. She also enjoyed to cook and crochet. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Trinity Episcopal Church, where she played the organ for both in her younger years. The family received friends on Monday, August 30 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 31 in Trinity Episcopal Church in Newport, MD with Rev. Ellie Brown officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Delmar Rollins, James David Rollins, Donald Rollins, Roger Rollins, Phillip Rollins and James C. Roberts.
