Rose "Bernice" Balicheski

Rose "Bernice" Balicheski, passed on May 6, 2026, after a brief illness. Her life began on September 16, 1950, in Oraville, Maryland. Bernice brought warmth and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was the daughter of the late John Leonard and Anna Marie Long, and the youngest among six children. Bernice’s legacy is distinguished by love, resilience, and an unwavering spirit.
Bernice was preceded in passing by her beloved spouse and life of the party, Edward Stanley "Ski" Balicheski Sr., her sister Margaret "Mutsy" Nelson, and her brother Richard "Elmer" Long. Their memory endures through their siblings Jimmy Long, Ralph Long, and Larry Long, her two children Dennis Pope and Edward Stanley Balicheski Jr., as well as her two granddaughters Baylah and Farryn.
Following a dedicated career at Pax River Naval Air Base, Bernice embraced retirement by enjoying pitch games, visiting casinos, and relaxing by the pool. Ever energetic and spirited, Bernice chose to return to work at Solomons Fastop, where she became renowned for preparing the finest fried chicken in Calvert County.
Bernice’s devotion to family, and friends, was evident in all she did. Her kindness and laughter will be remembered with great affection, and her legacy will continue to inspire all whose lives she touched.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. Where a Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Father Drew Royals officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Morganza, MD.
