Samuel Vincent Gaillot September 27, 1961-June 9, 2014 Sammy was born in Butler, Pennsylvania. His family moved to Mechanicsville, Maryland when Sammy was a school-aged boy. As a student in Chopticon High School, Sammy engaged in assisting in sporting events. Though he never took to the playing field, he loved assisting the coach and athletes. He was also enrolled at what is now known as the James P Forrest Career and Technology Center. He graduated from Chopticon in 1980. In the mid 80's, Sammy became employed with Baldwin's, along with Bert's Diner. In 2003, Sammy was employed with C.M.B Electrical. According to his employers, Sammy was a very dedicated employee, who poured his heart and soul into his occupations.
Sammy also enjoyed landscaping for several local businesses, including Sandgates, Sea Breeze, and Captain Leonard's. He also was hired by several local residents to help with home repairs, and landscaping. Sammy also engaged in architecture for both homes and businesses. Every one of his drafts was passed by the County Health Department, for Sammy always followed the building codes. His latest draft was going to apply to his and his wife's house. During much of his adult life, Sammy could be seen bicycling along Three Notch Road, from Charlotte Hall to Lexington Park. Hence, he was dubbed as "Bicycling Sammy" by many of his friends. Sammy's bike was often accompanied by several shopping bags, and a cart hitched to the rear of his bike. In his spare time, Sammy enjoyed building models, especially military ships and aircrafts. He also enjoyed watching either gospel programs, or classic television, especially detective and lawyer programs. In spring of 2011, Sammy started dating Angela Cummings, whom he met years ago while waiting for the VanGo bus in the early 2000's. According to Angie's mother, Oleta Copsey, Sammy had been wanting to date Angie since he first laid eyes on her. Sammy's friends started to notice some positive changes months after Sammy and Angie were dating steadily. He was building up his self-confidence, and he was polishing himself aesthetically. On June 29, 2013 at Sandgates, Sammy proposed marriage to Angie, whom happily said yes. On February 14, 2014, Sammy and Angie were married at Patuxent Baptist Church, where Pastor Rick Connor directed the ceremony. According to friends an family who attended the wedding and reception, many of them remarked that their wedding was one of the most beautiful ones they have ever attended, and they have never seen a couple so much in love as Angie and Sammy. Due to relocation of moving into Angie's house in California, Sammy did not ride his bike as often, for he mostly relied on the St. Mary's County Transit System, especially the County Span routes. He did, however, continue to cycle for short distances. Sammy's friends have commented that they have never seen him looking so well, nor so happy until after the wedding. According to Angie, a month ago, Sammy actually had to move up a pants-size. This was mostly due to the fact that Sammy had a wife who fed him well. According to Angie, Sammy was a Christian who loved to serve the Lord. Sammy attended Patuxent Baptist Church on a regular basis, along with ECC in Charlotte Hall.
Sammy's untimely death has left many loved ones in a state of shock and disbelief. Hence, Angie wishes to get involved with the American Heart Association, and help raise awareness about atherosclerosis, and other heart diseases.
Sammy is survived by his wife, Angie, his father, Al Gaillot, his sister, Faith Gaillot, and his mother-in-law, Oleta Copsey .He was predeceased by his mother, Caroline Gaillot. The following have agreed to be pallbearers. They are Rich Young, Michael Cummings, Dave Buckler, Troy Buckler, Glen Wood, Greg Tippet.

“”Love is patient, Love is kind…” For you Angie, these may be the words from the day that marked your marital bond to your beloved Sammy, but to us, this was how he lived. These words capture the sense of goodwill that he projected. These words are who he was and how he will be remembered. The two of you shared a beautiful love story for the ages regardless of the brevity of the time allotted to your walk together here on Earth as man and wife. We can all be assured that Sammy’s heart was full of love for you. Embrace that love and use it to shield yourself from the sadness associated with the loss of his physical presence. We can also find comfort in knowing that today ‘Bicycle Sam’ walks in Paradise. Sammy has left his footprints on the path you shared and on your heart. So grieve if you must and we will all share in your loss, but do not let that grief consume you. Always remember that “Love never fails”, therefore your love is eternal. May God bless and comfort you as we keep you in our thoughts and prayers to help guide you through these difficult days ahead. “
