Thomas Hillary Dean, Sr. 83, of Hollywood died Sunday, August 16th 2015 in Chesapeake Shores Nursing Home. Born February 6tth 1932 in Hollywood, he was the youngest son of the late David Richard Dean and Myrtle Mae Copsey. He was the husband of Frances Cecilia Wible whom he married on January 22nd 1955 at St. Johns Church in Hollywood. She preceded him in death November 1989. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Ella Mae Dean, sister Agnes Guy, sister Violet Abell, brother Levi Dean, brother Chester Dean, and sister Elizabeth Pilkerton. He is survived by his son Thomas Dean, Jr. of Hollywood. Tommy was raised on a farm in Hollywood until he went to work for Bowles & Spicer as a truck driver. Tommy then entered the Korean War on September 9th 1952. While on active duty he was wounded in action for which he received the Purple Heart. On June 16th 1954 he began his began his reserve duty and was honorably discharged on June 29th 1959. Tommy went to work for SMECO in 1955 as part of a tree trimming crew and left them in 1976 as a high voltage lineman. When he left SMECO he went to work at Patuxent River NAS as a high voltage lineman. He retired from the naval air station in 1992. Tommy enjoyed horseshoes, fishing, playing cards and playing music with his friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 6:30 PM by the Patuxent Moose Lodge Hollywood, MD, 6:45 PM by the VFW Post 2632 California, MD and 7:00 PM prayers recited by Deacon Ammon Ripple in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Catholic Church Hollywood, MD with Father Ray Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers for Tommy will be Mike Derby, Ronnie Derby, Mike Abell, Alan Abell, Robert Abell, and Buster Dean. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Hollywood V.F.D, VFW Post 2632 California, MD, and Patuxent Moose Lodge Hollywood, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Hospice of St. Mary’s P.O. Box 625 Leonardtown, MD 20650, Hollywood Vol. Fire Department P.O.
