Veronica Marie (Combs) Johnson “Boots”,88, of Great Mills, MD passed away on April 24, 2020 in Lexington Park, MD. She was born on September 18, 1931 in Great Mills, MD to the late Martha Mary Combs, and Thomas Leonard Combs. Boots was the loving wife of the late Benjamin Perry Johnson, Sr., whom she married on February 3, 1950 in Leonardtown, MD and who preceded her in death on August 19, 2002. Boots is survived by her children Debra Irene Johnson, Leonard Wayne Johnson, Sr. (Lauren), Karen Marie Johnson, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, son in law Jim Shawver and daughter in law Bonnie Johnson.. She was preceded in death by her daughter Veronica Lynne Shawver and son Benjamin P. Johnson, Jr. Siblings Mary Naomi Combs, Agatha Valerie Combs, Thomas Leonard Combs, Jr, John Albert Combs, and Theresa Ruth Combs.
She was a life long St. Mary’s County, MD resident. Boots was a secretary for Little Flower School retiring in 1970.
All Funeral Services will be private. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Brother Billy Combs, Melvin Tennyson, Wayne Johnson, Jr, Joe Thompson, Rick Redmond, and Jack Weatherbee.

I’m so sorry for your loss… I last saw Boots at the nursing home in February. I had the dog with me and Boots was able to hold her and love on her. She so loved the animals! She will be missed.

My sympathy to all of Boots family. She is now in a better place. We had lots of fun together for many years. We went on many trips together and shared many laughs. Lots of good memories. God Bless!
Boots was such a fun lady and I enjoyed her so much on the trip to Ireland we took years ago and her many visits with Mom and Dad. She will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers to her family and friends.
My sincere condolences to Wayne and the rest of the Johnson family for your loss. I have many fond memories of visits with “Aunt Boots” and “Uncle Johnny” back in the old days when Wayne had barely outgrown the toddler stage. Both of them were extremely fine people and a great influence on the lIves of others. They earned their opportunity to be together again.
Bootsie, was so glad you signed up for the trip to Ireland I organized and I had so much fun with you. The trip will be the memories of you I will hold in My heart forever. Rest in peace Boots you’ve earned it.

Wayne and Karen, we both went to Little Flower School when we first got to know your Mom as the school’s Secretary. She was like a 2nd Mom to everyone there. She joins your Dad now to reunite as the great couple they made together.
Boots will be greatly missed – what a great lady!

I remember her living on Great Mills Road very close to my parents and I remember as a little girl she would bring me clothes that her daughters had outgrown! I loved when she came over with all those dresses!! She was a wonderful lady and I know she will be missed by all who knew her. My condolences to the family. May she rest in peace.
