A Funeral Service will be held in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 7 at 10:00 AM with Father Rory Conley officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens.
Visitation:
Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 6 from 5 - 8 PM In the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home with prayers being said at 7 PM.
Virginia Lee Thompson, 73, of Avenue, MD died April 2, 2005 in Washington D.C. Born October 21, 1931 in Burnsville, NC she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Mafra Bailey Fox. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Thompson, whom she married in Leonardtown, MD. She is survived by her son, John Lee Farrell, Sr. and his wife, Sheila of Chaptico, MD; two grandsons, Lee and Phillip Farrell of Chaptico, MD; and a granddaughter, Elisa Farrell of Chaptico, MD. She is also survived by her siblings, Claudine Arrowood, Shirley Fox, Betty-Jean Tipton, Bill E. Fox, James Fox, Phillip Fox and Lola Bradford all of Burnsville, NC. , and Bernice Arnold of Abell, MD. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary-Sue Garland. Mrs. Thompson was a graduate of Eanka High School, Class of 1950. She relocated to St. Mary's County from Burnsville, NC in 1950. Mrs. Thompson was employed at St. Mary's County Nursing Home for 30 years prior to her retirement in 1999 as the Superintendent of Housekeeping. She enjoyed working in her yard and making quilts. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home where the family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Pallbearers for Mrs. Thompson will be Lee Farrell, Mike Lacey, Wayne Norris, Phillip Farrell, Wayne Scriber and Pat Arnold. Contributions may be made to Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O.
