A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home with Fr. David Beaubien.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home chapel.
Walter Bernard "Brother" Abell, Jr., 70 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on January 15, 2015. Born on October 24, 1944, he was the son of the late Walter Bernard Abell, Sr. and Nora Ellen Abell. Brother is survived by his siblings: Linda Sue Abell of Waldorf, MD, Michael Kevin Abell (Diana), Lisa A. Kohut (Tommy), and Patrick D. Abell all of Leonardtown, MD, nieces: Kimberly Guy (Brian), Erin Shoemaker, Cary Shoemaker and Alison Kohut, nephew Thomas "TJ" Kohut, Jr., and special friend Grace "Sissy" Shoemaker. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings Kerry Sean Abell and Ellen Jo Shoemaker.
Brother was a lifelong St. Mary's County resident and graduated from Ryken High School in 1960. He was a member of the Cedar Lane Resident Association where he served as President for several years. Brother loved to play pitch and poker with friends, and he volunteered for a number of years until his recent illness for Friends of Cedar Lane store.

Walter Bernard "Brother" Abell, Jr., 70 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on January 15, 2015. Born on October 24, 1944, he was the son of the late Walter Bernard Abell Sr. and Nora Ellen Abell. Brother is survived by his siblings: Linda Sue Abell of Waldorf, MD, Michael Kevin Abell (Diana), Lisa A.Kohut (Tommy), and Patrick D Abell all of Leonardtown, MD, nieces: Kimberly Guy (Brian), Erin Shoemaker and Alison Kohut and nephew Thomas "TJ" Kohut, Jr., and special friend Grace "Sissy" Shoemaker.
